Google Cloud’s new Gen AI tools for retailers

Google Cloud, the tech giant’s cloud computing division, unveiled a set of innovative tools on Thursday that leverage cutting-edge generative AI to enhance the online shopping experience for retailers and their customers who utilize Google Cloud services. Google launched new Generative AI tools for retailers in order to improve online shopping and retail experiences.1

The suite of the products has Gen AI chatbots that can be used by retailers on websites and mobile apps, and virtual agents to talk to consumers and offer product suggestions. Google’s recent AI offerings also cater to retailers, providing tools that both improve customer service interactions and streamline product catalog management. In addition to online stores, Google’s existing Distributed Cloud Edge platform is bringing new AI features to physical stores as well.2

“In only a year, generative AI has morphed from a barely recognized concept to one of the fastest-moving capabilities in all of technology and a critical part of many retailers’ agendas,” Carrie Tharp, vice president of strategic industries, Google Cloud, said in a statement. “With the ability to accelerate growth, boost efficiency, fuel innovation, and reduce toil, generative AI solutions are ready to be deployed now, and Google Cloud’s recent innovations can help retailers recognize value in 2024.”
